Introduction

INTRODUCTION The Materials Processing Research Centre (MPRC) was founded1990 and is comprised of members of staff from the School of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering in Dublin City University. The value of collaborative research and pooling of resources in this field was recognised by the researchers involved. The critical objectives of the Materials Processing Research Centre are: To provide good quality research. Integrate simulation and theory activities with experimental programme. Use of the research facilities to characterise, process and evaluate various material systems. To become an European centre of excellence and collaboration. The Materials Processing Research Centre recognises the importance of its educational role by the following: Develop initiatives in undergraduate education through advanced courses in design and manufacture of traditional and novel materials.Providing postgraduate taught and research programmes. Increase the output of highly skilled postgraduate and undergraduate students needed for the diverse industries currently based in Ireland. Providing postgraduate seminar/exhibition programmes. |
